Electric Run Birthday Party!

For my birthday this year I told Weston I didn't want a present.  I just wanted to do an activity.  And by an activity I just wanted to do anything.  Some examples I gave Weston were a concert, a trip to Disneyland, an event like a motorcycle race, or the BYU vs Utah football game.  And what we finally ended up doing was the Electric Run.  It was a 5k at Thanksgiving Point.  What was fun about this was it was at night time and everything and everyone was lit up!  It was seriously so much fun!  Rus and Kristy even got me the coolest shoe laces to put in my shoes that were glow in the dark.

So after we had cake and presents with the kids Weston and I got all ready and went to the Electric Run.  I wore Makenna's light up Tinkerbell wings and had on glow stick necklaces and bracelets.  Weston had on the glow sticks too.  And once it got all dark they had the course all lit up and tons of music playing.  And then after the race they had a big stage with music and dancing.  It was a big old party that was lots of fun.  We stuck around for a little bit and then we decided to go get some dinner.  And where do you think we ended up?  Oh ya, we went to good old Denny's!  It was so delicious!  Denny's is always a treat because we are so egg deprived at our house!

Here are some pics of us before the run started

This was at the starting line with everyone waiting for it to begin.

This was one of the parts during it

And this is us afterwards!

It was seriously so much fun.  I just loved getting out and doing something totally new and different.  Thanks Wes for an awesome birthday!  Your the best!

Katrina's Birthday

September 15th-20th, 2013

I decided it was okay to have a birthday this year.  But don't worry I'm still 29!  I just thought I needed some cake this year!  :)  And this year I got spoiled and got a week full of cake and cupcakes!  It was the best ever!  It started Sunday when we celebrated mine and my moms birthdays.  We had a yummy dinner followed by presents and then a yummy chocolate cake .  It was a great night because Weston even stayed for dinner before he went back to Elko.  He left right before presents but it was still fun to have him there for dinner.

Then on Monday I got a little special delivery!  Two delicious cupcakes!  And I ate both of them!

Then Tuesday I received a 12 pack of diet Pepsi.  Followed by brownies on Wednesday!  Then on Thursday I got something I had been asking for, for about 3 months.  A whole 12 pack of Diet Vanilla Pepsi!  These are very rare and hard to find.  Weston picked me up a pack in Elko and brought it home for me!

Now its Friday!!!  My official birthday!!!!  And guess what I got for breakfast!  A chocolate Dunford Donut!  Yeah!!!, I know its so sad that my excitement in life is all about treats.  But I really try to limit myself so this week I totally splurged!  Plus I got a special delivery of delicious cupcakes and the coconut syrup so I could make my own Jacked up Diet Cokes!  It was a very good morning.

Once Makenna got home from school we did our celebration with cake and presents.  And I made the coolest cake ever in the microwave.  The kids thought it was magic!

Kason got me a new hoodie because I am always so cold!

Makenna got me a gift card to the movie theatre

And Brynn got me an iTunes gift card.

My yummy magic cake!

Brynn loved the cake.  She didn't even need a fork to eat it, sure just dug right in!

I totally got spoiled and those kids sure know what I like!  This was one of the best birthdays I've ever had!  Thanks to everyone who made it such a great day and week!  (ps I really have the best husband ever!)

Makenna's Dance Birthday Party

Since Makenna's birthday was on a Sunday and the Saturday before her birthday was jam packed with Jazz n Place Team try outs and then the Dance Depot dance recital we had her birthday party on Monday afternoon after everyone was out of school.  When I first asked Makenna what she wanted to do for her birthday she said she wanted play the wii game Just Dance.  I told her that it would be too hard to have everyone take turns playing the game.  And after I told Wes about this he suggested we ask his mom about having a dance party at the dance studio.  So when we asked Makenna what she thought about having a dance party she was beyond excited!  She just couldn't wait for her party!  Now what girl spends 4 days a week in dance classes and then chooses to have her birthday party at the dance studio so she can do more dancing.  She is just crazy!  And crazy about dance that's for sure!

So we made up some cute invitations with a dancer on the front and told everyone to come dressed and ready to twist and twirl.  Makenna could hardly wait for the party to be here.  So when the day finally arrived she was ready to party!  Here are some pics of the party, the treats and the decorations.

I made a balloon garland that I saw on pinterest and then the sign said Dance Party

Happy Birthday to our little dancer!

The party was such a blast and it was the perfect party for Makenna.  Thanks to everyone that came and helped make Makenna's day special.  And thanks to Grandma Southwick for coming and helping with everything.  That was the easiest birthday party I've ever done!

Happy Birthday!

Makenna's 6th Birthday

May 12th 2013

Makenna's birthday fell on Mother's Day this year so the poor girl had to share it with me and both her grandma's.  We really tried to make it her special day so I hope it turned out okay.  She wanted to open presents first thing in the morning.  Then we went to church where she sang a couple songs in sacrament meeting for us moms.  Then after church we headed up to the Powell's and celebrated her birthday.  She picked chicken wings for dinner and she wanted cake pops for dessert.  I think it was a great day for her even though she shared it with me.

When we would ask Makenna what she wanted for her birthday everything she wanted she couldn't have for some reason.  First she wanted the American Girl doll named Mckenna but she was only available last year so we couldn't get her.  Then she wanted a dog but Weston said no.  Then she wanted an Ipad but I said no.  And lastly she wanted a trampoline and Weston vetoed that too.  So the poor girl just wasn't going to get anything for her birthday.  She did end up getting some Littlest Pet Shops from Brynn, a cash register for Kason and some clothes from us.  She was happy for those things but she was just a little sad when that was all she got.  Then we told her she had one last present and this is what she opened.

Wow, that's a big bag!  I wonder what is inside!?!?

Look at that big smile!

And the smile gets bigger and bigger!

It's Makenna with her McKenna American Girl doll!!!

I don't think I've ever seen her so excited about a present before.  She was grinning from ear to ear all day long and it was all she could talk about.  McKenna went with us everywhere that day so she could show everyone.  She was so excited and happy.  She was just amazed because she thought she couldn't ever have that doll since they weren't making them anymore.  But little did she know that she has a very sneaky mom who's had the doll for a year and just couldn't wait to give it to her!  And it was worth the wait to see the look on her face!

These are the cake pops that Shellie made for Makenna's dessert.  They are little ballerina's with tutu's on.  They were seriously the cutest things ever!

Makenna, we sure do you love you!  You mean the world to us.  You have grown so much in the last 6 years and we just love your energetic personality.  You are always keeping us busy with life but we would do anything for you.  We are just so proud of all that you have accomplished.  With all your devotion to dance and how much you love school.  You have learned so much and your continuing to learn so much.  You've become an awesome reader and I just love how much you love school.  You have taught yourself to do cartwheels, handstands, one handed cartwheels and round offs.  If your not dancing then you are kicking and flipping everywhere you go.  I just wish I had half your energy to go all day!  Love you honey!

Brynn's Birthday!

February 16th 2013

My baby is 1!  Where did the time go?  Everyone says that it goes faster with every kid and it really did.  She was such my sweet little cuddly baby and now she's 1.  But lucky for us she's not walking or going any where so she's not quite a toddler yet.  Here are some pictures from her birthday.  We had a lady bug themed party.

The lady bug cake

I made a little lady bug out of a cupcake and a small cake pan for just Brynn to dig into

Here's our little Bug crawling around before the party.  She finally figured out how to crawl in time for her first birthday.

Shellie made adorable ladybug cake pops for the party.  Aren't they adorable!  Plus they were so delicious!

Opening a present.  (she got pretty spoiled from everyone!)

Starting to dig into the cake.

The half demolished cake

She loved her cake so much that we had to take it away from her because she couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough.  She was two fisting it!  Then she cried because it was gone.  But don't you worry because she found every last crumb off that blanket and ate them all.  She was so funny to watch digging in to that cake.  She had a very fun birthday.  Thanks to everyone who came to watch and spoil her.  She is definitely one loved baby!

Kason's Birthday Part 2 and 3

December 28th - 29th 2012

On Kason's actual birthday Weston was back down in Vegas so he wasn't actually here for it.  Weston's special thing for the kids is that he goes and gets them a big bundle of balloon's on their birthday and since he wasn't here to do that he had all his family come and bring him a bunch of balloons for him.  First Kristy dropped by with some, then Grandma Southwick,  and then we had Shane and Cali stop by with balloons.  Needless to say we had a house full!

On his birthday Kason wanted to go to the Dinosaur Museum.  So we went up to Thanksgiving Point to enjoy the afternoon!

Getting dirty!

And the favorite part, digging up bones.

Once Weston got home that weekend we celebrated Kason's birthday with presents and cake.  He had a McQueen cake that day.

Weston's 31st Birthday

November 28th 2012

I love to celebrate other peoples birthdays just about as much as I like to celebrate my own!  There is always great food, presents and activities to do.  And I love to celebrate Weston's birthday because I get a date out of it!  So this year we got a babysitter and went out to dinner.  I can't remember all the presents that he got but I do know Makenna picked him out a new tie, Kason wanted to get him church socks and Brynn got him the Imagine Dragons c.d..  Kind of a different assortment of presents but he loved them anyways.  The kids where really excited to pick them all out for him.  Here he is dressed in his new church attire and jamming out with Imagine Dragons.  Not for sure that those go together very well :)

Happy Birthday Wes!  I hope you had a great day!  We love you!
