This was Makenna's last and final dance performance of her dance Tangled with Mini Troupe. I love the dance, the costume, her hair, her team and everything. But I am getting a little tired of the same old dance. I wish they could have learned a new one for recital or something. But either way it has been a great experience being on her competition team and she has learned so much and she absolutely loves it! Here are a couple pictures of her actually preforming.
I love that one of them sitting all down. They are just so cute! And she is the one that gets to say "5,6,7,8!" to get off the stage. I sure am proud of her! Way to go Makenna!
(Oh and she tried out again for the competing teams and she made Mini Elite this year! We are so excited and proud of her. She works really hard and loves it.)

Monsters University
June 13th 2013
I write blog posts on a blog called Oh So Savvy Mom. I write things like recipes that I try out, girly hair do's, and the best part is product reviews. Usually the products are things like baby items, toys, or household products but this time I was able to review the new Disney Pixar Movie Monsters University! I was able to take one guest with my so I dragged Makenna with me. Since it was a pre-screening with Radio Disney it was a big party going on. First we had to drop off my phone cuz you can't take anything in with you to record the show. Then once we got in they were handing out posters with Monsters on one side and then the new Planes movie on the other. They were playing a bunch of fun games and trivia questions where you could get prizes. Makenna didn't want to play so we just watched. Then it was time for the movie to start and it was in 3D which Makenna thought that was totally cool. It was her first time with a 3D shows and she loved the beginning show. You know how they do those little short films at the beginning? Well this one was about umbrellas and it was so cool to see the rain fall down on us. I just loved Makenna's reaction to it. It was so cute! Anyways then we watched the show which was completely adorable! I would almost say I liked it better than the first one. Although Boo wasn't in the show it was still the cutest show ever! Makenna really enjoyed it too. After the show was over they were handing out Monsters stickers so we grabbed a couple so we could share with Kason. I had to get a picture of Makenna out in the lobby for the movie review so I just thought I'd add it here too!
Oh, and this movie was so cute that we went back as a family. Weston, me, Makenna and Kason. We did get Amy to babysit Brynn for us. And now the kids keep playing monster games. They're pretty funny.

Lagoon
June 8th
Makenna's last dance competition was at Lagoon. It was a fun day. We got to go and ride rides and then dance and then ride more rides! The kids had a ton of fun and it was nice because Grandma and Grandpa Powell came to watch her. So Wes and I snuck off and rode a couple rides. It was a fun and busy day. We waited around for the awards because Makenna wanted to and it took forever! They seriously announced Makenna's category last too. But they took 1st place which was so exciting! We had our actual camera with us all day but of course we didn't take any pictures with it. But here are some from my phone. They loved the to drive the cars!

Kason cheesing it before the cars start
Kason totally got stuck right here for half the ride. But he had so much fun!
Makenna is 6 going on 16!
update: I found some more pics from Weston's phone so I wanted to add them. Here they are!

Brynn 15 months
May 30th 2013
We took Brynn in for her 15 month check up on the 30th. Again it is technically 15 and a half months but oh well. She is doing just fine in all of the areas except that she still isn't walking. If she doesn't walk by 16 months we are going to have to call kids on the move to get her evaluated. But in all the other areas she seems to be fine. Here are her stats from the Dr.
Weight 19.27 lbs. 19.57 %
Length 29.5 inch's 13.24 %
Head Cir 17.25 inch's 8.02 %
She is still such a tiny girl! She must take after her dad! One problem with her is that she doesn't weigh enough to get bumped up out of the baby car seat because the one we have you have to weigh 20 pounds for. But in half an inch she is too tall to fit in the baby car seat anymore. So we are either going to have to put her in an expired car seat that is too old or go buy a new car seat. I really don't want to have to go buy another car seat so I'm just hoping that we can get by for a few more months.
Brynn has developed so much personality and she is quite a stubborn girl. We can not get her to do anything! She won't walk or talk or do anything you ask her to like waving good bye. She will do things on her own however. Just don't ask her to do! Here are the words/phrases that she says.
Hi
Bye
Thank you
night (sometimes nigh, nigh)
mom
dad
uh-oh
uh, uh
and something that sounds like I love you
And here is a picture of this adorable little monster! (she still loves to growl!)

Makenna's Kindergarten Program
May 29th 2013
Kindergarten was a dream come true for both Makenna and I. She loved it so much! She loved going everyday, she loved learning, she loved playing and seeing her friends and most of she loved her teacher Mrs. Mikulecky. (I loved that she could go and learn and enjoy her days with out arguing with me and Kason!)
But seriously it was the greatest experience and she learned so much while she was there. We were lucky and got an amazing teacher and Snow Springs is really a great school. It's nice that we are so close but sometimes it would be so nice to walk her to the corner and catch a bus. Luckily we were able to carpool with the Boren's and that has been the greatest thing.
So with the last day of school approaching Makenna's class started preparing for a program for us parents. They sang songs and they put on skits. Makenna's skit was Chicken Little. And she said the part for Chicken Little too.

And here she is with Mrs. Mikulecky
Last day of school!
Look at her from her first day of school. She's just grown so much this year!
And as of the 1st week of July she is already asking when she gets to go to 1st grade. She can hardly wait. She wants to go all day and eat school lunch. I hope we last the rest of the summer!

Imagine Dragons
May 20th 2013
I would have to say that Weston and I are pretty much complete opposites in almost everything. Movies, music, t.v. shows, food, clothing style, likes and dislikes. It's crazy but it works for us. Opposites attract! But there is one thing that we completely agree on and that is Imagine Dragons. Weston had heard of them because one of his mission companions little brother is the lead singer. So he's seen things on facebook about them. And then I heard them on Jay Leno one night last year and told Wes to come and see them cuz I really like them. Then we figured out that we both actually like something the same! Crazy huh!?! Well when I went down to Vegas in February we saw that they were playing in Vegas that next weekend and I was so bummed because I couldn't see them. So Weston got on facebook and started talking to his mission companion to see when they would have a tour date in Utah. And as luck would have it they had just announced a concert in Provo. Tickets weren't on sale yet but his companion said he would put us on the guest list so all we had to do was show up. I was so excited I about died! Weston and I never do crazy things like going to rock concerts so this was unknown territory for us! I did crazy stuff like this all the time before I was married but not now! But all I can say is it was AMAZING! The best concert ever! It was so much fun, the music was awesome and the show was crazy amazing! We loved every minute of it. Here we are waiting for the show to start. (gotta love those self portraits!)
It was great music and great memories. Weston even got to catch up with his old mission companion Elder Reynolds! Oh and thanks Mac for the tickets! It was so much fun. I think Wes and I need to do more crazy things and soon!!!

Makenna's Dance Birthday Party
Since Makenna's birthday was on a Sunday and the Saturday before her birthday was jam packed with Jazz n Place Team try outs and then the Dance Depot dance recital we had her birthday party on Monday afternoon after everyone was out of school. When I first asked Makenna what she wanted to do for her birthday she said she wanted play the wii game Just Dance. I told her that it would be too hard to have everyone take turns playing the game. And after I told Wes about this he suggested we ask his mom about having a dance party at the dance studio. So when we asked Makenna what she thought about having a dance party she was beyond excited! She just couldn't wait for her party! Now what girl spends 4 days a week in dance classes and then chooses to have her birthday party at the dance studio so she can do more dancing. She is just crazy! And crazy about dance that's for sure!
So we made up some cute invitations with a dancer on the front and told everyone to come dressed and ready to twist and twirl. Makenna could hardly wait for the party to be here. So when the day finally arrived she was ready to party! Here are some pics of the party, the treats and the decorations.
I made a balloon garland that I saw on pinterest and then the sign said Dance Party
This is the refreshment table with Makenna's Keep Calm and Dance On sign
Marshmallow pops!
Water bottles for the girls when they get thirsty
Tutu cupcakes. They turned out adorable!!!!
Grandma Southwick ran the stereo for us and played dancing games and even taught them a little dance. It was great!
Present time! All the girls sitting around in a circle. The did very well waiting for their turn to give presents.
Happy Birthday to our little dancer!
The party was such a blast and it was the perfect party for Makenna. Thanks to everyone that came and helped make Makenna's day special. And thanks to Grandma Southwick for coming and helping with everything. That was the easiest birthday party I've ever done!
Happy Birthday!

Makenna's 6th Birthday
May 12th 2013
Makenna's birthday fell on Mother's Day this year so the poor girl had to share it with me and both her grandma's. We really tried to make it her special day so I hope it turned out okay. She wanted to open presents first thing in the morning. Then we went to church where she sang a couple songs in sacrament meeting for us moms. Then after church we headed up to the Powell's and celebrated her birthday. She picked chicken wings for dinner and she wanted cake pops for dessert. I think it was a great day for her even though she shared it with me.
When we would ask Makenna what she wanted for her birthday everything she wanted she couldn't have for some reason. First she wanted the American Girl doll named Mckenna but she was only available last year so we couldn't get her. Then she wanted a dog but Weston said no. Then she wanted an Ipad but I said no. And lastly she wanted a trampoline and Weston vetoed that too. So the poor girl just wasn't going to get anything for her birthday. She did end up getting some Littlest Pet Shops from Brynn, a cash register for Kason and some clothes from us. She was happy for those things but she was just a little sad when that was all she got. Then we told her she had one last present and this is what she opened.
I don't think I've ever seen her so excited about a present before. She was grinning from ear to ear all day long and it was all she could talk about. McKenna went with us everywhere that day so she could show everyone. She was so excited and happy. She was just amazed because she thought she couldn't ever have that doll since they weren't making them anymore. But little did she know that she has a very sneaky mom who's had the doll for a year and just couldn't wait to give it to her! And it was worth the wait to see the look on her face!
Makenna, we sure do you love you! You mean the world to us. You have grown so much in the last 6 years and we just love your energetic personality. You are always keeping us busy with life but we would do anything for you. We are just so proud of all that you have accomplished. With all your devotion to dance and how much you love school. You have learned so much and your continuing to learn so much. You've become an awesome reader and I just love how much you love school. You have taught yourself to do cartwheels, handstands, one handed cartwheels and round offs. If your not dancing then you are kicking and flipping everywhere you go. I just wish I had half your energy to go all day! Love you honey!

Look at that big smile!

I Laughed so Hard I Cried
This was seriously the funniest thing that I have ever seen Makenna do for me. For any of you that know us, you know that our personalities clash. She would do anything for Weston but as for me she doesn't give me the time of day. It's been that way since she was born so I've had 6 years to get used to it. So when she gave me this for Mothers Day I was just dying. All the answers are pretty much inside jokes so you probably won't get them but it was just too cute that I had to post it on here for me.
Thanks Makenna for the good laugh. We are going to have to work on a few of those questions though. I'm only 29 (for the 3rd time!)

Mother's Day
May 12th, 2013
Mother's Day was pretty crazy this year. Not only was it Mother's Day but it was also Makenna's birthday. I really wanted it to just be her day but the kids got me some presents so of course I had to open them!
This year was probably the best Mother's Day ever! My kids definitely know what I like and I got spoiled! Wes even bought me a new swim suit. I just hope I can fit into it after I eat my Reese's!
I hope all you other Mother's out there had a great Mothers Day too!

Brynn got me a new table cloth. (We only have one and we needed another one)
Makenna got me a food scale
And a card
And she made me a calendar at school.

Dance Depot Dance Recital
May 11th 2013
This year at the Dance Depot, Makenna had Holly as her teacher and she loved it! She was so cute with the girls and she had lots of fun music to dance to. Makenna definitely loved going to her class. Her dances for recital were Kids in America and Mambo #5. She did great and it is always so much fun to watch her dance.

Brynn dressed up for the recital in one of Makenna's old leotards and tutu. She can't wait to start dance class!
Her Mambo #5 outfit. She loves the hat!
Grandma Powell came to watch and brought Makenna flowers. Probably her favorite part of recital is the flowers afterwards!
A semi-family picture. Kason wouldn't come get in it.
The four cousins that preformed that day. Shali, Lacey, Makenna and Kyanna.
All the Southwick cousins that were there that day.
