8 Year Anniversary

June 2nd, 2013

This year we celebrated our 8th anniversary.  It's crazy to think we've been married for that long.  At times it feels like we've been together forever but other times I can't believe it's been 8 years already!  I feel like it was just a year or two ago that we got married.  But it's been a great 8 years!  And although sometimes it's hard more often than not it's great!  I love our weekend dates and it doesn't matter if we go out or if we get take out and stay at home, I just love spending the time with Weston.

Luckily though we did get to go out for our anniversary.  I wanted to go some where really fancy where we would have to dress up to go.  But when we started looking at those types of restaurants I realized there wasn't much that I wanted to eat.  So we decided to go to The Melting Pot up in Salt Lake.  It was amazing!!!!  I really liked everything about it.  Because you have to cook your own food you eat at a slower pace and it is just so relaxing!  It was also very nice and quiet.  And the food was so yummy!  Especially the dessert!  I had talked to a couple people that had eaten there and everyone said that they spent well over $100 so that is what we were expecting.  But for 3 courses for the two of us we only spent just over $80 and that included the tip!  So even though that is triple or even quadruple what we normally spend on a dinner out I was very happy that we didn't spend over $100.  And I would definitely go again in a heartbeat!  (I'm sure it will be another 8 years though!)

I didn't think about getting a picture of our appetizer which was a cheese fondue.  We dipped bread and veggies in it and it was yummy!  This was a dinner.  It was amazing and so much fun!  We had veggies and then I had pot stickers some BBQ pork and then some kind of steak.  Weston tried 3 different types of steak.

This was a dessert!  So yummy!!!!  I could've eaten it all myself!  We picked a chocolate peanut butter fondue.  I thought I was going to die it was so delicious!  They had strawberries, banana's, cheesecake, brownies, marshmallows and rice krispies to dip.  I practically died and went to heaven!

It's safe to say that this year was so much fun.  I love getting out and spending alone time with Weston.  I can't wait tell next year!  Love you Wes!  You are the best!

She's Walking!!!

August 2013

Brynn finally started walking!!!  She was 17 1/2 weeks old but she finally did it!  And by walking I guess I mean she stands up in the middle of the room and can walk to where she wants to go.  Technically, she has been "cruising" around furniture since around 14 months and she would walk down the hallway if she was holding onto the wall but I guess by the doctors definition that is not considered walking. But now she is officially walking!

I was really starting to feel frustrated with it because I have the doctors and kids on the move telling me that she should be walking and we needed to get her some help.  But then when I would say something to people they would just say, "you don't need kids on the move" and "oh, she's just fine she'll do it when she wants to."  So I just felt like I was horrible because she wasn't walking and the doctors wanted her to be and then I felt stupid because if I told anyone we were going to call kids on the move then they would think things about us.  Which is totally stupid of me to feel that way because if Brynn needed a little help what was wrong with asking for some help?  I guess just my pride.  But I'm really glad I called them because Brynn completely failed in the speech department so it's great that we are getting her some help now.  The sooner the better!  I know she's a stubborn little thing and she will eventually do it when she wants but this way she is getting some great one on one help.   Here are a couple pictures of her finally walking!  She is just doing awesome now!!!

She's the cutest little thing ever!!!

Girl Time!

One night after the kids went to bed I painted my toes.  The next morning when we all woke up Makenna saw my toes and just had to have hers painted too.  So that night after dinner we sat down to paint Makenna's toes.  She picked pink and purple so we alternated every other toe.  While we were doing Makenna's toes Brynn got so jealous and just had to have hers done too.  It was the cutest thing ever!  She picked up a bottle of nail polish and sat down right next to me.  I have never seen her sit so still while I painted her toes!  Here are all the cute toes!

Poor Kason is such a good sport to be stuck with all these girls.   He just sat and watched and said boys don't paint their nails.  I think Kason deserves some good one on one time with Weston one weekend!

Messy Face!

I make a raspberry salad that the kids all love!  They always devour it and Makenna says it is now her favorite one.  Brynn loves it so much that she wanted to all over her face!  Makenna wanted to send this picture to Weston cuz he was driving back out to Elko one Sunday.  So I thought I would post the picture here too.  Isn't she so silly!

Family Home Evening at Bridal Veil Falls

July 1st, 2013

I forgot to add this post about our family night back in July so this is going a little out of order.  It's so hard to keep everything straight when I'm trying to catch everything up from a couple months ago!  Oh well, better late than never!

So for FHE I thought it would be fun to take the kids on a hike.  We wanted something easy that all the kids could do so we went up to Bridal Veil Falls.  It's so nice because it is paved too so we just put Brynn in the stroller.  We parked down at the bottom so they could have more of a hike and they were so excited to be out in the mountains.  They were even more excited when we made it to the waterfall!  Before we even knew it they were both trying to get in the water and walk over to it.  So we took off our shoes and headed in.  Makenna started climbing straight up and we had to keep reminding her to come back down.  I don't think she would have stopped climbing!  She would have gone straight to the top!  Kason and Brynn were just excited to sit there and throw rocks in the water.

Once we walked back to the car we stopped at a picnic table to eat popcorn that we had brought.  The kids loved it and had so much fun.  This was a fun family home evening and the kids can't wait to go again!

Back to School Date

August 9th, 2013

Weston thought it would be fun for us to take Makenna out for a night of shopping and dinner before school started and spend some time with just her.  So we got a babysitter for the little two and headed down to Lindon to the Pizza Factory.  Makenna loves the twisty breadsticks there.  And then after dinner we went to the mall to get a few new things for back to school.  We didn't have any luck finding shoes for her but she did pick out a couple new shirts that were really cute.  It was just a fun night being with just her and you could tell she was loving all the attention.  I think we need to do this again sometime and with each kid individually.  Here is a picture of Weston and Makenna at dinner.  I just love that big grin from her!

Swimming Lessons

We finally got the kids signed up for swim lessons the first week of August.  They went for about 2 weeks and both Makenna and Kason had so much fun.  I wish I'd gotten them in earlier this summer so we could have done another session before the chaos of school and dance begins.  Oh well.  They both did great and passed their classes.  I'm just glad they are feeling more confident in the water now.  That was my main goal in the lessons.  But here are a few pics of them at lessons.  I kept forgetting to bring my real camera so these are just ones from my phone.

Brynn and I would hang out outside and work on our tans during lessons!

Scheels Ferris Wheel

July 27th, 2013

Before Weston headed back to Nevada we took a little family outing up to Scheels.  We hadn't been there yet and we wanted to check it out!  It was a pretty cool store.  Brynn really liked all the fish and the kids liked the Ferris Wheel.  Poor Brynn wasn't tall enough to go on it so she and I hung out while the others rode it.  Makenna said she got a little nervous on it but she had lots of fun.  Kason loved everything about it.  It was a fun little outing!

Funny Kason

I really enjoy having Kason in our family.  He makes me smile and laugh every day which is something that I really need.  And the other day he said something that was just too cute that I had to write it down.

Here is a little background on the story so it makes more sense.  I usually try and go out running a couple times a week.  I put Brynn and Kason in the double jogging stroller and Makenna rides her bike.  We just run around here by our house and it doesn't matter which way we go but we always end up running past a mink farm.  Kason hates the smell of them and always asks if they are gone yet.

So the other day we were on our way back home from somewhere and you could smell the mink farm and Kason says to me, "Mom are we past the stink farm yet?"

Yes Kason it is a stink farm.

Summer Days at the Splash Pad

Sometime in July 2013.  It was a Thursday

I took the kids up to the splash pad up in Highland.  I really wish Lehi would get a clue and build one but since we don't have one here my favorite splash pad is the Highland one.  I like the river that the kids can play in and then they do have the part that splashes water up.  But here are a lot of pictures from that afternoon.  Makenna had seen a couple older girls posing for pictures so she wanted to do the same.

Prepare yourselves for a Makenna picture overload!

Doing cartwheels in the water

She seriously thought this was the coolest!

Giving thumbs up for the camera!

Brynn just splashing in the water!

She had so much fun!

Kason just chilling on the side of the river.  He was much more cautious than the girls.  He just liked sticking his feet in the water and watching everyone.

Makenna couldn't miss a photo op so she ran over to jump in the picture!

All three kids!  Say cheese!

Next time I'll learn to take the picture's facing the other way so they don't look all dark and shaded!  Oh well.  The kids were so happy and they had so much fun!

Swimming

July 20th 2013

One thing about having Weston gone during the weekdays is we actually try and plan fun family things to do one the weekends.  Weston really misses the kids so it's fun to plan things so we spend quality time together.  And this weekend Weston wanted to take the kids swimming.  Makenna had been asking forever to go to the Lehi Outdoor pool so she could go down the slide.  I just didn't think I could take 3 kids to the pool by myself so I kept waiting for Weston to come with us.  So on Saturday afternoon we got all ready and went swimming.  The kids seriously had so much fun and did not want to leave.  Makenna went down the slide a few times and Kason and Brynn and I hung out in the shallow part.  Both Kason and Brynn did so well in the water and were loving it.

Here are the kids waiting to get back in the pool.  Aren't they so adorable!!!  I love Kason in his sunglasses!  We don't go anywhere with out them.

All Brynn wanted to do was eat those little Gerber puffs.  I think she ate the whole container!

I don't know how Wes got a picture of me and not himself!  Oh well.  Proof that I was there! (I'm very embarrassed by those white legs.  Apparently they never see the sun!)

On the way home we stopped at 7-11 and got treats and Slurpee's.  Brynn drank all of Weston's Slurpee, it was so funny!  She really liked it!  We had so much fun swimming and the kids keep asking if we can go back.  We'll see if we make it back to the outdoor pool before summer is over or we'll just have to go to the Legacy Center.
